Meditation and Leadership
When we train our minds, we naturally develop values that benefit ourselves first and foremost. But it is not long before we start noticing the benefits to our colleagues, to our family, and to all those around us.
Training the mind doesn’t mean swopping one set of values for another. It means enhancing the positive values that we already hold. By employing three qualities in the field of leadership: open-mindedness, discriminating awareness, and diligence, we discover which qualities are to be tended and treasured and which are to be weeded out.
Our approach is not to impose values, or prescribe beliefs. Rather we train you to notice what is going on in your mind, and what is going on around you. Instead of acting out of habit or being trapped in patterns of behaviour, training in attention and awareness gives you more space to notice the part you play in the complex web of relationships that you are a part of. Training the mind gives an individual the means and energy to develop the kind of qualities all the leadership books talk about but don’t tell you how to deliver: empathy, self confidence, honesty, integrity, decisiveness, courage and the rest.
