An Overview

We all aspire to peace of mind, and the many benefits it brings.  Because we clearly cannot separate the things we experience from the state of our minds, it should be easy to see the connection between training our minds (or practicing secular meditation) and enriching our lives.  Unfortunately we find ourselves searching for mental remedies solely in the material domain while peace of mind always seems to elude us. 

There is nothing wrong with looking for external solutions to fulfill our material needs.  We need a certain amount of money for financial security; we need good food and exercise for our physical health; and we need good relations with our friends, families and communities in order to live in a supportive society.  All these things help us experience a basic level of happiness.  If we stop our search there, however, we will have ignored the key factor that determines whether we experience peace of mind or not: our very minds themselves.  This is why AuthentiCity places such a strong emphasis on training the mind.  It is the much-neglected inner cause for the peace of mind we so obviously crave.
